Nacer Chadli faces a spell on the sidelines after a good start to the season for Tottenham.
Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli has been ruled out for up to six weeks after suffering ankle ligament damage against Liverpool.
Chadli, 26, was forced off 11 minutes into Saturday's 0-0 Premier League draw with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool after going down defending a corner.
Spurs confirmed the extent of the Belgium international's injury via Twitter on Tuesday morning, with Chadli now set to be out of action until December.
A club statement read: "Further assessment and investigation has confirmed that Nacer Chadli suffered ankle ligament damage during our draw against Liverpool.
"The Belgium midfielder was forced off with the injury early in Saturday's game and is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks. Our medical staff will continue to monitor his progress during his rehabilitation to determine when he will be ready to return to training."
Chadli has played in all nine of Spurs' opening league games of the 2015-16 season, scoring one goal and assisting another to help Mauricio Pochettino's side into seventh place in the table.
The Belgian had tweeted his appreciation to Spurs fans on Monday for their support after his injury, vowing to return to full strength for the North London club.
The injury could keep Chadli out of games including Premier League clashes with Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea, as well as Europa League ties against Anderlecht and Qarabag.
