FIFA president Gianni Infantino visits Nigeria, meets African FA leaders

The president and secretary general of FIFA have visited Nigeria to meet African football association leaders.

President Gianni Infantino and secretary general Fatma Samoura arrived in the country on Sunday for a two-day visit and will attend an under-13 international match on Monday as part of the trip.
Secretary general of the Nigerian Football Federation [NFF] Mohammed Sanusi is hoping to use the visit of Infantino to help develop the game in Nigeria, but is aware that the exposure alone will be good for his country.
"Anytime the president of FIFA is visiting a country the attention of world football will be on that country and that will give a lot of knowledge to Nigeria," Sanusi said.
Gianni Infantino has visited Nigeria for a two day trip of drink receptions and U13 international football.
"On the economic aspect of it, multinational companies will also focus their attention to Nigeria and that will have a positive effect on the Nigerian economy.
"I can tell you the coming of the FIFA president is also coupled with cementing good working relationship between the other African nations and the Nigerian football federation."
Infantino's visit has coincided with protests about the continuing presence of Amaju Pinnick at the head of the NFF, while the FIFA president is awaiting an interview over an alleged ethics breach.
